There has been a lot of speculation about the 2012 presidential candidates for the GOP. Most of the candidates have already announced their candidacy for this year, and other candidates are still deciding whether to run. Some of the most popular candidates mentioned this year have been Sarah Palin and Donald Trump, but the GOP includes many other hopefuls who want to run against President Obama in 2012.
Here is a look at some of the candidates who could run against Obama in 2012:
Mitt Romney
Former Governor Mitt Romney is one of the leading 2012 presidential candidates running for the GOP this year. He is considered to be one of the front running candidates for the nomination this year. Romney is a great public speaker, and he has the name recognition that many of the candidates lack. He narrowly lost the nomination in 2008 when John McCain won, and he is near the top of the early exit polls.
Romney does not come without his share of baggage. Romney presided over Massachusetts when they had their own healthcare mandate.
ObamaCare used the Massachusetts universal healthcare law as a model for the rest of the United States. Romney was still defending his healthcare views as late as 2007, so he will have to admit his own Massachusetts’ law was a failure to run against ObamaCare in 2012. His best chance to win is if Sarah Palin decides to drop out of the race this year. If Palin does not run or drops out, he is the favorite among the 2012 presidential candidates.
Sarah Palin
Of all of the 2012 presidential candidates, Sarah Palin has the most name recognition. The media has covered her every move for years since the 2008 election loss. She is well liked by most conservative voters, but the democrats hate her. Unlike most of the other candidates (except Donald Trump), most people have already formed their opinions about her. She is definitely one of the leading 2012 presidential candidates.
Donald Trump
Is he running for president? Will he run as a third party candidate? While he may not be a true Republican candidate, he has the potential to hand the race to President Obama in 2012 if he runs as a third candidate. Since Donald Trump has been flipping back and forth on running for office this year, he should be considered a threat for the Republican party until election day in 2012.
Herman Cain
Herman Cain is an intriguing candidate. He is not well known, but he has a strong conservative record. He can neutralize any racist allegations against the GOP in 2012, and he seems to have great ideas for this year. He doesn’t carry the baggage that many of the other candidates have, and he leads the field among church going Republicans. Herman Cain is one of the 2012 presidential candidates that has a great chance to win the nomination.
Ron Paul
Ron Paul is an interesting candidate, but he may not have everything it takes to win the nomination. There are a few things running against him. He will be 77 years old in August 2012. I don’t see any way this doesn’t work against him. His views on the military are the biggest reason he may not win the nomination. He is not a pro-military candidate, and that simply won’t sit well with many Republicans voters.
There are other 2012 presidential candidates that could emerge. Michelle Bachmann, Former Governor Tim Pawlenty, former governor Gary Johnson, Rick Santorum, and former governor Jon Huntsman of Utah all have a chance to win the nomination. History has not been kind to candidates running against incumbent presidents, but these 2012 presidential candidates have a chance to win against Obama in 2012.

They Think You’re Stupid Why Democrats Lost Your Vote and What Republicans Must Do to Keep It Herman Cain Foreword by Zell Miller Do the scare tactics, deceptions and distortions of politics frustrate you? Have you grown cynical about the lack of real-issue leadership in Washington? Do you often feel as if politicians are talking down to you—that they think you’re stupid? Well, that is how politics-as-usual makes Herman Cain feel. In They Think You’re Stupid, Herman Cain offers an action plan to help the marginalized voter find a true voice in the political process, while at the same time offering political party leaders an avenue back to the heart of American democracy—the voters. Cain identifies a new voter phenomenon occurring across the nation. Newly registered voters, young African-Americans, unhappy Democrats, and uncommitted Republicans are refusing to identify strongly with either political party. Cain provides insightful analysis of the factors that have

Excellent,
Anyone who saw Herman Cain during his 2004 US Senate Campaign, has heard his radio program, or who reads his new book, They Think You Are Stupid, will come to see that Cain is a visionary and a leader. It’s that simple. He is a man who has the ability to capture the attention of the reader or the listener in a way that very few ever have or ever will.
His latest book is a portrait of the current political scene. It provides the reader with factual reasoning behind the core of the major problems facing the Democrat Party. He also shows the reader what the Republican Party is doing right as well as what they could stand to improve on.
Cain sees the current political scene as an opportunity for the
Republican Party to win over new members and secure itself as a major party for years to come, without compromising its core values. But he adds that the Republican Party can not wait for voters to come to it; to the contrary, it needs to reach out to these outsiders.
He argues that having clear moral courage in the fight against Terror and having bold leadership skills on the big domestic issues such as replacing the tax code or fixing social security is a must for our leaders in Washington. It is also what frustrated voters, or the “politically homeless” are looking for in a candidate.
Like the great Ronald Reagan, Herman Cain is a man of principal who must wait for the political tides to turn his way. Reagan spent his “wilderness years” doing a radio address and writing. How is Cain spending his “wilderness years?” Writing op-ed’s, launching a radio program, and writing his first book on his vision for America, that’s how!
Cain is quickly emerging as a major force in American politics. With the “politically homeless” on his side, that time will come sooner rather than later.
Highly recommended.

|They Think You Are Stupid,
“They think you are stupid” is an outstanding book. Cain explains how there is an ever increasing number of American voters who are becoming “politically homeless” and who feel that their voice is not being heard by their elected officials. Cain goes through the history of the civil rights movement and uses excellent research and data to show how the Democrat party has failed African Americans in its policies on taxation and social security. Where the Bush administration and the GOP have floundered in effectively detailing the urgent need for changes in the social security system and in our tax system, Cain outlines perfectly, and ties these important issues together with the future of our economy, the Republican Party and the American voters. For anyone wanting to understand more about the Fairtax, social security reform, and the escalating numbers of Americans who are looking for a new voice, this is a must read!

|Unfortunately I Think “They” Are Right,
Yes, the politicians think you are stupid. Unfortunately they have a lot of evidence that they are right. Mr. Cain ran for office. He was defeated in the primary but took great pride in that he finished second in a three way race. Sorry Mr. Cain, but second in the primary is a long way from writing the laws.
Mr. Cain says that our country has real problems. He is right. But the politicians have learned that the way to get into office is to talk about what an S.O.B. the other candidate is rather than promote plans fo their own.
Social Security is in trouble. We all know that as the baby boomers retire the present welfare, non-acturarial, based system can’t continue as is. President Bush has suggested one step to fixing it. The Democrats have a lot of poll data saying that using this to bash Bush is helping them. They have no incentive to come up with a plan. They even got angry when a Florida (where Social Security is a real issue) suggested part of one.
The title of the book says, “They Think You’re Stupid.” And the sub-title should be, “And the voters are proving them right.”
This is an excellent book in so far as it talks about the problems facing America. I wish I believed his view of the smarter electorate.
